Is comparing a cheap budget cPanel hosting solution with an expensive managed WordPress hosting solution fair? Why pay more for hosting than you really have to?
Here I compare Domain Cost Club cPanel hosting solution with Wealthy Affiliate’s managed WordPress hosting solution. I am comparing a cheap budget cPanel hosting solution with an expensive managed WordPress hosting solution.
Lets find out if I think it is worth spending more for the expensive solution.
Wealthy Affiliate Hosting
Wealthy Affiliate’s hosting solution is shared hosting which is managed WordPress hosting. They use Amazon Web Services behind the scenes. Their web servers I assume are optimized to host WordPress based websites.
One, this should give those servers a performance boost. Two, this allows them to finetune the solution. Three, this is a good solution and they provide 24/7 online ticket support which is very responsive.
Wealthy Affiliate Hosting Uses PHP at an old level
Unfortunately they consistently use PHP at an old level. PHP is a computer language used for the web. When you are visiting websites, many times PHP is the computer language used behind the scenes.
The more modern levels of PHP have performance improvements which Wealthy Affiliate Hosting are not taking advantage off.
I think that the Wealthy Affiliate Managed WordPress Hosting dashboard, their user interface and their software behind the scenes is tightly “married” with the version of PHP. If so, this means that they potentially have to do a lot of work when they upgrade the version of PHP that they use.
Other webhosts either don’t have this dependency or quickly do the work behind the scenes so that their solutions work with more modern versions of PHP.
True to form in June 2021, Wealthy Affiliate hosting were using PHP at an old level. On June 10th 2021, I created a new test website using Wealthy Affiliate hosting. They were using PHP 7.3.9 when WordPress recommended using PHP 7.4 at a minimum.
Wealthy Affiliate Hosting Pricing Options
They offer Managed WordPress Hosting as part of their membership packages. However you can’t get Managed WordPress Hosting for just one website with them. You have to buy Premium membership which includes a bundled offer of things you probably wouldn’t buy separately.
Premium membership costs about $50 a month. Premium members can host ten websites. For Premium members who only host one or two websites with them and who don’t use the other bundled benefits of Premium membership, they may be better off hosting elsewhere.
I consider the cost of Wealthy Affiliate Premium membership to cover hosting only. The Wealthy Affiliate Premium membership package includes things that I consider as “free bonuses”. I don’t really need them. Additionally I may not buy them from Wealthy Affiliate if they were sold separately.
Their competition for affiliate marketing training, keyword research tools, hosting and the like have solutions which are very bit as good as Wealthy Affiliate and in a lot of cases are actually better. I prefer to deal with multiple organisations who have better solutions.
Wealthy Affiliate Lack Pricing Options For Separate Items
Wealthy Affiliate need to provide more tiers and more real choice in their offerings rather than using bundled options which you may not really need or require.
This makes what you really want to be way more expensive than what its cost appears to be.
For instance, if they offered Managed WordPress Hosting for one website with email services for five email adresses for $75 a year that would be an interesting offer. However they don’t. Instead they want about $50 a month or $495 a year for Premium membership which includes other items which you may not truly need or want.
If you only want hosting for one or two websites, you are going to go elsewhere.
Domain Cost Club cPanel Hosting
Domain Cost Club offers members cPanel hosting. With Domain Cost Club, you buy an annual membership. The Lite class of membership costs about $10 a year and this allows that member to register or renew 5 or less domain names at better than usual prices. Domain privacy is also free which is another bonus. The Lite class of annual membership can optionally buy annual cPanel hosting.
This allows the member to host up to those five domain names for about $50 a year. So cPanel hosting will vary from $50 a year for one domain name (which is a good price in the first place), to as low as $10 a year (which is awesome pricing) for one domain depending on the number of domain names you have registered with Domain Cost Club that you have configured to use this hosting option.
In March 2021, I moved this website over to Domain Cost Club cPanel Hosting and have been there since. Domain Cost Club cPanel Hosting comes with the Softaculous Apps Manager installed. I found using the Softaculous Apps Manager to install WordPress was very easy, very simple, very effective and very efficient.
For me this hosting is way more cost effective than Wealthy Affiliate hosting. And from what I can see is every bit as good. There are of course differences.
Is Domain Cost Club Hosting Better Than Wealthy Affiliate Hosting? In my opinion, yes. The answer may also depend on how big your website is and how busy it is.
However from working with my website, I don’t notice performance differences.
I find the purge/cache tool better at Domain Cost Club as I can purge/cache specific web pages whereas Wealthy Affiliate’s purge/cache tool does not have this ability. I also find that the purge/cache tool at Domain Cost Club is more reliable.
Is comparing a cheap budget cPanel hosting solution with an expensive managed WordPress hosting solution fair? In my opinion, yes. Especially if the cheap budget cPanel hosting offering is every bit as good as the expensive managed WordPress hosting solution, in my opinion and in my experience.
Why pay more for hosting than you really have to? Good question.
Domain Cost Club cPanel Hosting is every bit as good as the expensive managed WordPress hosting solution provided by Wealthy Affiliate, in my opinion and in my experience.
Domain Cost Club also provide cPanel Hosting for domains currently registered with them. Their cPanel Hosting annual charge (plus the cost of annual membership) is way cheaper than many other webhosts.
Domain Cost Club sells domain names at really good prices to members. They also optionally sell cPanel hosting at really good prices to members. The domains must be registered with Domain Cost Club to get that cPanel hosting.
