Domain Cost Club Review: Good Domain Registrar (2022 Update)

This is my Domain Cost Club review. I’ve been getting my domains, renewals & transfers there for years now. I’ve made some really good savings. Is it your turn?

My Review Of Domain Cost Club

Let’s find out. I go over some pricing comparisons, pros, cons and some of my experiences.

Let’s get started.

Proof Showing Where This Domain Registered

Below is the Domain Whois Record for the domain associated with this website. It’s registered with Domain Cost Club.

WHOIS Result for workfromhomenotes.com

Today in 2022 all my domains are with them. I wouldn’t even dream of paying retail prices again! 🙂 🙂

In April 2015 I moved a domain to them. I was so impressed I moved my remaining domains to them by the end of July 2015.

I find their domain related services reliable and trustworthy. Then I like their low costs.

I like their domain privacy services. There are no additional domain privacy services fees for domains registered with them.

What’s more, I find their control panel (to manage my domains) easy to use. And I like their support.

Introduction

Domain Cost Club members can register or renew or transfer domains as their membership tier allows at the exact same price that it costs Domain Cost Club. What’s more buying at this price can make sense even after the cost of annual tiered membership.

So they have four different membership tiers. These are Lite, Basic, Plus and Unlimited. Of course the higher the tier, the more domains you can purchase at Domain Cost Club using your member pricing.

For example, a member who only registers/renews two or three domains per year would most likely opt for the Lite membership. And a member who registers/renews over fifty domains per year would most likely opt for the Unlimited membership.

Of course, Lite membership costs less than Unlimited membership. And the Basic and Plus tiers are between these two tiers.

How Domain Cost Club Membership Works

You purchase a Domain Cost Club membership package which allows you to register domains, renew domains and transfer your existing domains to them.

Then you buy using your membership at member prices these domains. These prices are usually way cheaper than the cost of domains elsewhere.

Huge Cost Savings for Domain Cost Club Members

The biggest immediate benefit of Domain Cost Club membership: The huge cost savings for members because members enjoy at-cost domain pricing.

Domain Cost Club Prices vs HostGator Prices

I compare their costing with HostGator who also have a domain offering. HostGator does charge extra for domain privacy on a per domain per year basis. In contrast, Domain Cost Club does not.

I want to ensure that the following pricing examples are as realistic as possible. Therefore, I have selected .com domains in these examples. As in April 2022, over half of global websites used a .com domain. [1]

Domain Cost Club Prices in April 2022

For a .com domain, the domain registration fee for one year is $8.39 per domain per year and the domain privacy fee for one year is $0.00 (Zero) per domain per year. Plus the mandatory $0.18 fee per year per domain that The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) charges.

There may be a processing fee for payment processing. For these calculations, I am assuming this is $0.43 which brings their cost (excluding any applicable taxes) with domain privacy to be $9.00 per .com domain per year.

Plus the price of the applicable Domain Cost Club Membership type. Currently Lite membership allows you to buy 5 domains at-cost. Lite membership costs $9.99 per year.

HostGator Prices in April 2022

For a .com domain, the domain registration fee for the first year is $12.95 per domain per year (currently subsequent years cost $17.99 per domain per year) and the domain privacy fee for one year is $14.95 per domain per year.

They absorb the mandatory $0.18 ICANN fee per year per domain. This brings their cost (excluding any applicable taxes) with domain privacy to be $27.90 per .com domain for the first year.

Pros

Domain Cost Club’s At-Cost Domain Name Pricing

Register or transfer or renew domains at the exact same price that it costs Domain Cost Club. Up to the limit associated with your membership tier. Of course, you can upgrade your membership tier if required. The at-cost domain pricing is way better than the recommended retail price.

Additional special limited time pricing promotions are also make available to Domain Cost Club members.

Domain Cost Club’s Domain Privacy Services

So paying nothing extra for domain privacy services can be quite a saving. For example, domain privacy service for two domains for one year may potentially cost you $29.90. However over ten years those domain privacy service for those two domains may potentially cost you $299.00. That is some potential saving.

Domain Cost Club Have Over 442 Different Domain Extensions to Choose From

This includes the usual familiar ones of .com, .org, .net and more. Not all domain registrars have this extensive range of different domain extensions.

Domain Cost Club Will Refund Your Domain Registration within 5 Days after Purchase

What’s more, they are the only domain registrar to my knowledge that will do this. This could be a typo in the new domain that you didn’t notice until a microsecond after you paid.

I changed my mind one time after buying a domain name, requested the refund within 2 days of purchase. The refund was in my Paypal account within two days.

Refund Your Domain Renewal within 5 Days after Purchase

You might have set on “autorenew” for your domain name.

Then once the domain was automatically renewed, saw the money leaving your account. A simple email to Domain Cost Club within 5 days requesting them to refund your domain renewal will see that renewal cancelled and money refunded.

Easy to Work with and Support Is Very Responsive

I find that they are easy to work with and their support is very responsive. That is my experience since November 2014.

The Control Panel to Manage Domains Is Slick, Clean and Easy to Work With

This is what I find, especially when I compare it with the control panel used by my earlier domain registrar.

Earn Recurring Money on Referrals

If you know people who would purchase Domain Cost Club memberships using your referral code you could make money. I discuss this more in my is the domain business the perfect homed based business article.

Cons

Small Cost of Annual Tiered Domain Cost Club Membership

You pay a small annual tiered membership fee. This allows you to register or renew up to a specified number of domains at the exact same price that it costs Domain Cost Club.

And as an added bonus, you also do not pay extra for domain privacy services. I discuss this more in my Domain Private Registration Services at Domain Cost Club article.

Support is not 24/7

Support is provided by email during normal working hours only. Of course, providing 24/7 support is very expensive and adds to costs. Not providing this on a 24/7 basis means that they are able to keep their costs down which are passed unto their customers in the form of lower prices.

Conclusion

Domain Cost Club is a low-cost domain registrar. To get domains at-cost (at the same price that they pay for them), become a member using the membership tier that makes the most sense to you.

Domain Cost Club
If you buy or renew domains, you should look at them. They are a no-frills low cost domain registrar, who also provide free domain privacy services for domains registered with them.
