These days, there are thousands and thousands of web hosting companies out there, offering various packages and deals. I don’t know about you, however I find when there is loads of choice and deals out there, I find it hard to determine the best deal. I find it tiring and overwhelming to do the comparison. Rather than focussing on finding the best web host, whatever that means, I found it a better use of my time to find a well known reliable web host.
Bluehost is a well-known established reliable webhost. One, they are a good choice, especially for beginners or websites just starting. Two, they have a wide range of shared hosting, WordPress hosting and Managed WordPress hosting packages. Three, they have 24/7 support. Four, they are WordPress recommended.
When comparing different web hosts, I find myself asking the following questions or doing the following tasks:
- Reading web hosting technical specifications
- Learning about differences between different web hosts
- Determining how good the web host’s technical support really is
- Is website technical support provided on a 24 hours, 7 days a week basis?
- Does WordPress recommend that the version of PHP used by the web host be updated to a more modern version? If so, it may mean that performance is not as good as it would otherwise be.
- Are free SSL certs provided automatically?
- Is their hosting fast?
- Is their uptime good?
- Can I get a refund if I want to cancel? If so, how?
Which Is the Best Webhost for Starters?
Bluehost are no means the best web host. They are however a good well known reliable web host. If you are a starter or a beginner or if a website is just starting off or has less than 30,000 to 50,000 page views per month, they are a good choice. This means that Bluehost is a good solution for many websites.
Their web hosting options range in type and price. Furthermore they are a well known website host. Unlike the vast majority of web hosting companies, they are actually recommended by WordPress. You have lots of choice regarding different types of packages and pricepoints with them.
They also have been around since 2003. So compared with other website hosts they have been around for a long time in the web hosting space.
You should know that Bluehost provides different types of website hosting. This includes shared hosting, WordPress hosting and Managed WordPress hosting. Furthermore, they have a number of different packages within each of these. Of course, this gives you a lot of choice.
|Hosting Type||Number of Different Hosting Packages||More Details|
|Managed WordPress Hosting||3||Read|
You will notice that they have a wide range of packages. As expected, these contain varying features and quantity. For instance, Bluehost’s Basic package is for one website and has a generous storage limit. In contrast their Plus package is for unlimited websites and unlimited storage.
They have a large range of offerings which cover a wide spectrum. I discuss briefly some of their web hosting options.
Bluehost Web Hosting: Shared Hosting
I notice that Bluehost has four different packages within its shared hosting offering. As these provide different options, they range in price. You can make a good saving if you are willing to pay for three years in advance.
|Shared Hosting Package||Description|
|Basic||When you need just one site|
|Plus||For those running multiple sites|
|Choice Plus||With added privacy and security features|
|Pro||Get more power with optimized web resources|
You should also look at their Managed WordPress Hosting packages if you are willing to spend that much. Managed WordPress hosting is a premium offering so the pricing reflects that. You will notice that their Managed WordPress Hosting packages are for one website only which may or may not be important to you.
With Bluehost’s Shared Hosting, the lowest price offering is for one website and has a storage limit. I would go up a level to get the unlimited websites and unlimited storage. The upper priced offerings for Shared hosting includes getting free automated backups for a year.
With Bluehost’s Shared Hosting, the upper priced offering for Shared Hosting includes a free 30 day trial with Microsoft Email. In my opinion, you need at least one email address, e.g. support at your domain name that needs to be capable of receiving and sending email. This is required for branding and professional reasons.
Bluehost Web Hosting: WordPress Hosting
I notice that Bluehost also has its own WordPress Hosting offerings. Of course, they have different packages within its WordPress Hosting offering. As these provide different options, they range in price. You can make a good saving if you are willing to pay for three years in advance.
|WordPress Hosting Package||Description|
|Basic||Ideal for a blog or small site|
|Plus||Great for small businesses|
|Choice Plus||Perfect for growing your business|
I notice with Bluehost’s WordPress Hosting that the lowest price tier is for one website and has a storage limit, I would go up a level to get the unlimited websites and unlimited storage. You will then have additional options if you decide that you need to host more websites.
Of course if you are using the higher tiers for WordPress hosting, getting free automated backups for a year is a good idea. I think that free automated backups offer for a year is for one website. I recommend checking the terms and conditions to be sure that the offering there is what you need.
Bluehost Web Hosting: Managed WordPress Hosting
Furthermore I note that Bluehost also its own Managed WordPress Hosting offerings. I see that they have three different packages within its Managed WordPress Hosting offering. Note that the prices are for one WordPress Managed website. As these provide different options, they range in price. You can make a good saving if you are willing to pay for three years in advance.
|Managed WordPress Hosting Package||Description|
|Build||All the basics for a professional website|
|Grow||Everything you need to build an audience|
|Scale||Advanced features for running an online store|
I like the sound of their Content Delivery Network (CDN). This consists of web servers spread all over the world in over two hundred locations. As a matter of fact this is designed to deliver content as quickly as possible.
I do recommend that you do have sort sort of email service associated with your website. Currently, each of Bluehost’s Managed WordPress hosting packages includes a free 30 day trial with Microsoft Email.
In my opinion, you need at least one email address, e.g. support at your domain name that needs to be capable of receiving and sending email. You need this for branding and professional reasons.
I have noticed that other web hosts offering Managed WordPress hosting don’t include the price of email with their hosting. However I have the opinion that it is needed.
Final Wrap-Up: Why Get Bluehost Hosting?
Bluehost is a webhost recommended by WordPress. They have been around since 2003, which is a lot longer than many webhosts. They have a large number of different packages with a wide price range. If you are looking for a no-frills web host then you certainly won’t find yourself disappointed.
